Trung Le
Director
Trung Le has forged a career in quality engineering, technical testing and automation spanning hands-on technical roles and strategic leadership.
He completed a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in software from the University of Technology Sydney in 2006, graduating with first class honours.
Trung’s early career saw him refining his skills in quality engineering in key roles at Phillips Electronics, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac and TL Consulting.
Trung served in several roles at AMP, including Non-Functional Test Practice Leader.
In this position he was responsible for all Performance Testing and Test Automation Services within the organisation and led a dispersed, cross-discipline team of 40 people across various geographical locations.
At AMP, Michael and Trung built the technical testing team from scratch. “We implemented a mature and sophisticated methodology that rivalled very large organisations and kept it running,” says Trung.
Trung leverages his years of technical experience in technical testing to implement bulletproof strategic solutions and methodologies that set Sonar Consulting apart.
Michael Glynn
Director
Michael Glynn has dedicated his career to testing and quality assurance.
A seasoned quality engineering expert, he has hands-on experience running large programs at multinational organisations across the superannuation, insurance, banking, technology and retail sectors.
Michael began as a junior tester in Dublin with the Corel Corporation in 1995.
When he moved to Australia for a one-year working holiday in 1997, he fell in love with the lifestyle and decided to make Australia home.
He was a Test Manager at Avaya and CommSec before joining Westpac as Test Director in 2009. Then in 2011, Michael joined AMP and was promoted to Head of Testing in 2015. In this role he oversaw testing and managed a team of up to 170 testing professionals who were responsible for delivery of large integration programs, monthly enterprise releases and implementation of continuous quality process improvements.
Since 2019, Michael has served as Test Director at TAL, where he led the testing across the newly acquired Suncorp Insurance business, the company’s largest-ever IT delivery program.
Amith Arangi
NFT Practice Lead
Amith Arangi is a technical specialist with more than 13 years of experience in non-functional testing, performance engineering, test automation and DevOps.
He completed a Bachelor of Engineering at Andhra University in India before arriving in Australia in 2013.
He has served as Performance Test Lead for a range of clients, including IAG, nbn and FFA.
In 2021, Amith joined Sonar Consulting, where he oversees non-functional testing for clients, including Resolution Life.
As NFT Practice Lead, Amith provides leadership and governance across multiple complex projects, carries out performance risk assessments and offers technical solutions to potential performance issues and bottlenecks.
He enjoys the technical aspects of his role: identifying performance pain points and developing strategies and solutions to mitigate risk.
Complementary strengths
After forging a strong relationship working together at AMP, Michael and Trung joined forces to launch quality engineering start-up Sonar Consulting to fill the market gap in quality technical testing solutions.
Despite the critical nature of testing, Michael and Trung saw organisations consistently engage agencies and people that were a poor fit and failed to solve problems, remove roadblocks or deliver promised outcomes.
“We struggled finding good people and vendors that were able to understand requirements and help us implement solutions,” says Trung.
They became frustrated by the waste, inefficiency and lack of knowledge they encountered. With their niche expertise and complementary skillsets, they knew they could do better.
Michael is Sonar Consulting’s business lead, while Trung is the technical expert. Despite their differences, they share a common trait: a passion for solving problems.
“I like helping people solve technical problems,” says Trung. “That’s why Michael and I work so well together – he’s very much at the business forefront, forging relationships with people. I help with delivery issues.”
Sonar Consulting has delivered multiple large programs of work for high-profile clients including AMP, TAL and Zurich and has expanded to a team of 50 in just two years.
Under Michael and Trung’s stewardship, Sonar Consulting remains a boutique consultancy that is lean, nimble and agile, in a constantly evolving landscape.
